Two people are dead and a police officer is in an induced coma after disorder broke out across France as Paris Saint-Germain won their first ever Champions League title in record-breaking style, according to French authorities.
A 17-year-old boy was reportedly stabbed to death during a PSG street party in the city of Dax, the national police service said, while the interior minister’s office said a 23-year-old man was killed when his scooter was hit by a car in Paris during the celebrations.
Authorities in France also confirmed a police officer in the Normandy region was accidentally hit by fireworks and placed in an artificial coma.
More than 500 people have been arrested amid the chaos as vehicles were torched and flares and fireworks set off when supporters clashed with police in the French capital on Saturday night following PSG’s resounding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich.

In the match, star man Desire Doue bagged a brace, while goals from Achraf Hakimi, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu ensured the Ligue 1 winners clinched a first-ever Champions League trophy and, in doing so, broke the record for biggest winning margin in the history of the competition.
Luis Enrique’s team were scintillating on the night, as they finished their season with a treble. But the evening’s celebrations were marred by disorder back in France.
PSG forward Ousmane Dembele appealed for calm in a post-match interview with Canal+, saying: “Let’s celebrate this but not tear everything up in Paris.”
While Bruno Retailleau, France’s interior minister, posted on social media on Saturday after the game, calling the perpetrators “barbarians”.
He wrote: “True PSG fans are getting excited about their team’s magnificent performance. Meanwhile, barbarians have taken to the streets of Paris to commit crimes and provoke law enforcement.
“It is unbearable that it is not possible to party without fearing the savagery of a minority of thugs who respect nothing.”
Paris police chief Laurent Nunez insisted “vandals and law breakers” would be dealt with but did, however, confirm a parade for the PSG team on the Champs-Elysees will go ahead on Sunday, albeit with an increased police presence.
