Ange Postecoglou has rued Spurs’ defeat at home to Forest as “another one” Tottenham “let slip” – but explained how his side can trouble runaway leaders Liverpool when they visit Anfield next.
Goals inside the opening 17 minutes put the third-placed visitors on their way to a 2-1 win, although Tottenham rallied after their wretched start, replying through Richarlison’s header three minutes from time and finishing with an expected goals tally more than three times greater than Forest’s.
“The most frustrating thing is that our football outside of [conceding] was outstanding,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports. “We couldn’t dominate any more than we did and created chances.
“It’s hurt us all year that we’ve conceded poor goals and given ourselves a mountain to climb. It’s not about our football – it’s about maintaining our focus and concentration for the whole game. We’ve lost too many in that manner, which is why we’re in the position we are.”

Liverpool vs Tottenham
Tottenham are 16th and have little to play for in the league, but they could prevent Liverpool from winning the title with four games to spare on Sunday (16:30 BST).
Should second-placed Arsenal avoid defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Wednesday (20:00), the Reds will have to match the Gunners’ result to lift the trophy after full time against Spurs.

“If we play like we did today but keep our concentration levels where they should be, we can give them a game,” a dejected-seeming Postecoglou observed. “But we still need to rectify a couple of things.”
Liverpool won 4-0 at home to Tottenham in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals on February 6, having lost the first leg 1-0.
They beat Spurs 6-3 away on December 22 and have not lost the fixture at home since May 2011.

Postecoglou: Spurs ‘want to maintain momentum’
Postecoglou said he had pre-planned the substitutions of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero at half-time to manage their fitness during an injury-strewn campaign for the defenders.
Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert were withdrawn in the 67th minute for the same reasons, with Postecoglou acknowledging that the first leg of Tottenham’s Europa League semi-final at home to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt on May 1 (20:00) is a priority.
“We want to maintain momentum and, unfortunately, we missed that opportunity,” said the Australian. “It’s a game [against Forest] we should never lose – another one we’ve let slip.”

Elliot Anderson’s first-time shot from the edge of the box deflected past Guglielmo Vicario to give Forest a fifth-minute lead before the goalkeeper mistimed coming off his line to allow Chris Wood to head past him from Anthony Elanga’s cross.
In between the goals, Wood thought he had struck from Anderson’s cross but was denied by semi-automated offside technology as part of a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) check, with Postecoglou showing familiar annoyance at the time the review took.
Spurs have lost 11 of their 33 league games this season but will earn a European final against Manchester United or Athletic Bilbao if they beat Bodo/Glimt, with the second leg at the Aspmyra Stadion on May 8 (20:00).
