McTominay and Kane on scoresheet as Napoli and Bayern pick up vital wins

Scott McTominay scored the only goal of the game as Napoli beat bottom side Monza to draw level on points with Serie A leaders Inter.

The former Manchester United midfielder, who has enjoyed an impressive debut season in Italy, netted his ninth league goal of the campaign in the 72nd-minute to keep his team hot on the heels of the defending champions with five matches remaining.

The result heaps further misery onto Monza who are eleven points from safety having won just two league games all season.

In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich took another step towards wrapping up the title with a 4-0 demolition of Heidenheim.

After the disappointment of a Champions League exit in midweek, Harry Kane opened the scoring before Konrad Laimer, Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich added further goals as Vincent Kompany’s side extended their lead at the top to nine points with four games remaining.

Leverkusen can close that gap to six points with victory over St Pauli on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Barcelona left it late to snatch victory against Celta Vigo after coming back from 3-1 down to move seven points clear at the top of La Liga.

Raphinha converted a 98th-minute penalty – his second goal of the game – to give Barca a 4-3 win after Borja Iglesias had netted a hat-trick for the visitors.

Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo grabbed the other goals for Hansi Flick’s side. However, it was not all jubilation for the Catalan giants as striker Robert Lewandowski hobbled off with an injury.

Flick now faces the prospect of being without his top scorer for games against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final and Inter in the Champions League semi-final first-leg.

In Ligue 1, PSG backed up their progress to the Champions League last four as they beat struggling Le Harve 2-1 at Parc des Princes to continue their charge towards an unbeaten league season.

Desire Doue found the net inside ten minutes before doubling the lead through Goncalo Ramos.

Issa Soumare pulled one back for the visitors but the champions held on for the victory.
