Manchester United have announced plans for a post-season tour in Asia just days after the end of the Premier League season.
The first fixture is scheduled for May 28 in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur, just three days after United wrap up their campaign against Aston Villa on May 25.
The team will then face a squad of ASEAN All Stars before heading to Hong Kong for their next stop.
The tour is expected to generate approximately £8.5million and comes at a time when the club is looking to dampen the pain of losing £300m over the past three years, according to their financial reports.
Director Omar Berrada has tried to play up the occasion, admitting that it is necessary for the club.
He said: “Tour fixtures drive significant additional revenue which help make the club stronger, allowing us to keep investing in success on the pitch.

“They also create unique opportunities for us to collaborate with our valued commercial partners, and to deepen relationships with our fans in regions such as Asia and the U.S.
“We appreciate the amazing level of support that Manchester United enjoys around the world and this summer we are delighted to deliver a schedule that provides our fans in Asia, Scandinavia and the United States the opportunity to connect with the club and watch the men’s first team play live in local settings.”
The decision to add these post-season fixtures will undoubtedly spark concerns about player fatigue, especially given the demanding season ahead.
United will play a minimum of 57 matches by the end of the 2024–25 campaign, with the total potentially rising to 60 if they make it to the Europa League final in Bilbao on May 21.
Immediately after the Asia tour, several United players will be expected to report for international duty between June 2 and June 10. This tight schedule leaves little recovery time, as pre-season activities for the 2025–26 season begin soon after.
United’s preparations for the new season will kick off with a friendly against Leeds in Stockholm on July 19. Just three days later, the squad is scheduled to fly to Chicago to begin a three-match tour across the United States. The 2025–26 Premier League season is slated to begin on August 16.
