Kate Middleton Received a Chainsaw as Christmas Gift: Here’s Why

Kate Middleton knew just what to do with a nail gun while visiting the Scottish Isles with Prince William — perhaps because she is handy at home!

The Princess of Wales, 43, said she received a chainsaw as a Christmas gift while visiting Aros Community Hall on the Isle of Mull on April 29.

There, the royal revealed that she received a chainsaw as a Christmas gift to help with her garden projects, according to The Telegraph.

Her prowess reportedly amused her husband, as William teased Kate about not pulling the nail gun too quickly or “otherwise our trip will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.”

According to the outlet, when Princess Kate’s skills were praised in front of the cameras (“What can’t she do?”), Prince William, 42, said, “That always happens.”

The Princess of Wales also spoke about keeping bees. She is known to keep bees at her country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, and even makes her own honey, but she hinted that she hopes to learn more about the hobby.

“This is my summer project,” Kate told beekeeper Sheila Barnard at a pop-up market during the visit. Underscoring her interest, the royal asked Barnard which candle molds were best for beginner use.

Another stop at Aros Hall was a soft play area for children, which is the only dedicated space of its kind on the island with a population of 3,000. Princess Kate was in her element as she mingled with families and offered a relatable comment about her early days with her firstborn, Prince George, now 11.

The Telegraph reported that Kate said she wished that she had had a similar friendly facility when George was little, adding that all three kids “spent a lot of time hanging out at soft play.” Prince William and Princess Kate are also parents to Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, who turned 7 last week.

Louis’ birthday (commemorated with a picture showing the little prince wearing jeans and missing teeth!) wasn’t the only exciting milestone for the Wales family lately. William and Kate rang in their 14th wedding anniversary on April 29 on their work trip to Scotland, taking them back to the country where they met and fell in love as college students at the University of St. Andrews.
