The difficulties in their relationship were chronicled in season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which debuted on Hulu on May 15. Though the pair were close as cameras began rolling, over the course of the season, fans learned that there had been off-camera drama between them.
Jessi, 32, and her castmate Layla Taylor also opened up about the split in an article Page Six published May 16. Asked if their friend is “done for good,” Jessi responded, “Yeah, it’s done.” She confirmed Demi, 30, had done things that were “unforgivable.”
“I’ll never be friends with her again,” Jessi said. “And I’m a pretty forgiving person. So it’s a lot for me to say that.” Layla, 24, confirmed she feels “very similar.”

Layla said that though Demi was cruel to her, it was her “behavior” toward Jessi that was the breaking point. “The last thing that she did is something that’s so d—ing I just can’t turn a blind eye to it,” Layla said. She said that when she confronted Demi about it, Demi used “name-calling” and Layla saw “her true colors.”
As for what the final straw was, the castmates kept things vague, calling the fallout on the show “a slow burn.” In episode 6 of season 2, Jessi explains that she and Demi had “a falling out” that “rocked” their friendship. She described it as a “little disagreement about money.”
Mayci Neeley said that Demi wanted Jessi off the show so she could make more. Jessi decided to stay. Castmate Taylor Frankie Paul claimed Demi called the other MomTok member and was “talking mad s—” about Jessi and her plans to “push her to the side.”

“For me, I just said, ‘In my head, I just don’t want money to come between all of us,’ ” Jessi told her castmates. Mikayla Matthews said if she were a “millionaire” like Jessi, she’d feel the same. Jessi opened her own hair salon, JZ Styles, in 2016.
Demi said in a talking head, “Jessi sits on an empire of this hair business and does really well financially, so it felt a little selfish to me.” Demi told the group she “understood” Jessi’s perspective, but Taylor said she didn’t understand why Jessi was so “forgiving” to Demi.
Then, in the season’s final moments, Layla meets with Marciano Brunette, who some of the cast met when they appeared on Vanderpump Villa season 2, episode 3. There were rumors that Demi and Marciano were involved, and Marciano denied those claims. Demi has also denied them.

But then, he told Layla he did make out with Jessi and that they had sex. In a preview for future episodes, Jessi and her husband Jordan seemed to blame Demi for the accusation. Jessi previously told PEOPLE about how the trip to Vanderpump Villa changed her relationship with Demi.
“It led to a lot of drama and fallout,” she said. “If that wouldn’t have happened, our lives would be completely different. That’s all I’m going to say.”

She said that she told her castmates after Vanderpump Villa that she had been “groped” and asked them not to tell anyone. She gave no other details about the allegation. But she said Jessi then talked about it on a podcast. “That was really hurtful for me,” she said. Demi also told Nick Viall that Jessi has her “blocked on everything.”
