Jamie Foxx is sharing just how thankful he is for his girls.
The actor, 57, shared a few photos on Instagram on Tuesday, June 10, that included clips from his emotional BET Awards speech in which he thanked his daughters for supporting him after his near-fatal April 2023 stroke.
In one Instagram post, Foxx addressed his 16-year-old daughter Anelise and thanked her for being there for him when he was recovering. “Anelise Estelle Foxx … my baby girl…. They haven’t invented the words that I would need to thank you in the proper way,” he wrote in his caption.

“I know just being my daughter at times is a difficult task… But you carry it with Grace… Strength… And you’re so damn cool… Only God knows between you and him what you both decided when it came time to play that guitar,” he continued.
“I will be forever, indebted, and grateful… You went beyond medicine… And played a miracle… I cannot wait for the world to hear your music… Because I know you’re gonna bless the world… The way you blessed me…. As I cry myself to sleep… I just wanna say I love you.”
A second post addressed Foxx’s daughter Corinne, 31, whom he said has “my whole heart.”
“To look out into the audience and see you last night…. Was nothing short of angelic…. Thank you for saving me… And protecting me… I love you,” the proud dad wrote.
Accepting the Ultimate Icon Honor award earlier this week at the awards ceremony, Foxx took a moment to address his daughters, saying, “I have to thank my family.”
“My beautiful daughter Corinne – I cannot say enough about you,” the proud dad said. “You’ve always taken the backseat to everything. But when you needed to drive it, you drove. And you made sure I was here. And I ain’t going to turn down. I’m not going to stop crying – at a certain point I’m gonna stop crying, but I ain’t gonna stop just yet.”
He then addressed his daughter Anelise, saying, “I’m sorry. Anelise. My baby with the big hair. She hides under that hair because she’s got something special. You’re so beautiful man.”
“When I was fighting for my life in there, I gotta say this. They said that we’re gonna lose him cause his vitals is bad,” Foxx remembered. “And I didn’t want my 14-year-old to see me like that, but my Anelise overheard the conversation and she snuck into my hospital room with her guitar and said, ‘I know what my daddy need.'”
“And as she played the guitar, my vitals dropped. And I realized God was in that guitar and nurses ran in and said, ‘What did they give him?’ and my daughter said, ‘Shh, I got it.’ God is good and all the time.”
Foxx went through a near-death medical emergency in 2023, in which he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke while making his movie Back in Action. The comedian details the medical emergency in his comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, now streaming on Netflix.
