Chelsea defender Levi Colwill says winning the Conference League and completing the club’s set of silverware would be momentous as the Blues prepare to face Real Betis in the final on Wednesday.
Now 22, Colwill joined Chelsea’s academy at under-9 level, while captain James was part of the club’s youth ranks for 11 years before breaking into the first team in 2018.
“Being two academy boys, winning a competition with the club is huge – stuff you dream of as a kid,” explained Colwill, who made his Premier League debut in August 2022 and has featured 37 times in all competitions this season.

Real Betis vs Chelsea: Blues win would be ‘amazing’
Six-time top-flight champions Chelsea will have won every major trophy available to them if they beat the side who finished sixth in La Liga in the final in Wroclaw.
“For the fans, it would be huge to win every trophy,” said Colwill, who has had loan spells at Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion.
“We’re going to do it for them and work extra hard for them. For [many of the players in] the team, it would be amazing to win our first club competition. We’re really excited.
“The message from the manager was clear from day one – you can’t neglect any competition you’re in. It’s a huge competition. Look at the final – we’re up against a big team with a huge history.”

Chelsea trophies: What competitions have they won?
Chelsea won the Champions League in 2011/12 and 2020/21 and the Europa League in 2012/13 and 2018/19, as well as the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1970/71 and 1997/98.
“I don’t think we were favourites,” James told UEFA of beating Manchester City 1-0 in the 2021 final, when he played throughout. “It was a dream winning the Champions League so early on [in my senior career].”
As well as those Premier League triumphs, they have won the EFL Cup five times – last prevailing in 2014/15 – and secured the most recent of their eight FA Cup titles in 2017/18.

2025 Conference League final: Reece James ‘ready’
James has had a difficult time with injuries and Chelsea have managed the influential wideman’s appearances carefully this season.
“It’s definitely the best I have felt,” said the England international. “I am happy to be back on the pitch helping the team regularly and, if I am called upon, I will be ready [for the final].
“The game’s going to be a high-class game. We are playing against very good opposition. We will set out very strong and we will set out to win.”

Forward Nicolas Jackson, who has produced 12 goals and five assists in all competitions this season and scored twice in two Conference League appearances, is back in contention for Chelsea after missing two games for lashing out at Newcastle’s Sven Botman.
“He made a mistake but he’s been so key for us,” James said when he was asked whether Jackson’s performances in training had suggested an intent to atone for his indiscretion.
“He plays a huge part in the way we want to play. What he did – getting sent off – is gone now. We’ve accepted the mistake, put it behind us and focused all eyes on [the final].”
