Below Deck’s Aesha Scott Teases ‘Not-So-Traditional’ Wedding Element (Exclusive)

  • Below Deck star Aesha Scott got engaged to Scott Dobson near her New Zealand hometown in May 2024
  • The Bravo star tells PEOPLE she and Dobson picked out a venue, videographer, photographer and DJ for their wedding day
  • Scott also shares that, during the wedding festivities, she’ll be serving up her Chief Stew cocktail that she created with Canada Dry Ginger Ale’s Fruit Splash

Aesha Scott may not have started wedding dress shopping for her March 2026 nuptials yet, but she has a few other elements of the big day in place.

“We have got a venue, a videographer, a photographer and I’ve organized the DJ,” the Below Deck star, 33, tells PEOPLE. “We’re doing a saxophone-playing DJ because I love the saxophone. Get the sax out and put the bangers on!”

Scott has also sorted what will be on the menu when she marries Scott Dobson, who proposed to her in May 2024 in Homunga Bay, New Zealand.

“We’re going down a not-so-traditional route, and we are doing all Thai food because I’m obsessed with Thai,” she says. “If I’m a little bit tipsy after the afternoon drinks, I want to sit down, I want to slurp up a curry. I just want to sit there in spice heaven, so we’re going to do Thai food.”

As for what she’ll be sipping on during her wedding weekend, Scott will be serving up her Chief Stew cocktail that she created with Canada Dry Ginger Ale’s Fruit Splash flavor as the welcome drink. The cocktail consists of vanilla vodka, cherry brandy, sweet vermouth and a splash of Canada Dry.

“Martinis are my favorite, favorite thing,” the reality star says. “I don’t like cocktails when there’s just too much volume. You just feel so full and uncomfortable afterwards. I just want something that’s less quantity but really, really quality and you just enjoy every sip.”

Consisting of one shot of each ingredient, Scott finds The Chief Stew easy enough to put together at home, and she says it will “absolutely” be served on future charters.

Scott and Dobson will be tying the knot in their native New Zealand, but she admits deciding on a location “was a hard call.”

“Being such a global couple, we really could have done it anywhere,” the Bravolebrity says. “Scott’s half American, so he’s got a lot of family in California, but we decided at the end of the day, the bulk of our guest list is going to be from our hometown here in Tauranga in New Zealand, so we’re going to do it here. I’m at that age where pretty much all of my friends have young babies or are pregnant with their second, so I thought they’re not going to want to jump on a plane and lug their whole family everywhere. It’s better just to have it around where we grew up.”

Picking a honeymoon destination has also been “so hard to decide on,” Scott says. “We really don’t want to do the classic island holiday because we both get so bored. The idea of relaxing on a beach for a week is not super appealing, so we want to do something a bit more action-based.”

The couple has considered hiking through the Patagonia region in South America or heading to South Africa.

“I went there a couple of years ago for I’m a Celeb[rity… Get Me Out of Here!], and we didn’t get to see a lot of it because filming,” Scott explains. “But the food was just incredible, and the safaris are amazing. We thought if we could go back, do a safari and then carry on to Cape Town, do some food tourism and some adventures, that sounds like a cup of tea.”

Scott and Dobson will compete on the next season of Amazing Race Australia, which she says afforded them “really, really priceless experiences.”

“I thought for sure that we would butt heads more than we did because we think so differently, but we actually worked as a team really, really well, and I think we surprised ourselves,” Scott continues. “Which is a good sign for the marriage coming up!”
