Harry Kane admitted it felt “sweet” to win the first title of his stellar career after Bayern Munich were confirmed as Bundesliga champions.
Bayer Leverkusen’s inability to beat Freiburg yesterday meant they are now unable to leapfrog Bayern at the top of the table, prompting celebrations for Vincent Kompany and his players.
The moment was particularly memorable for Kane, who had yet to win a major trophy despite a prolific career that has seen him score over 400 goals for Tottenham, Bayern and England.
Speaking on Instagram, Kane said: “What a night last night, what a celebration with the players, with the staff. I’m sure everyone’s feeling it a little bit this morning, but we’re here.
“I feel amazing, it’s been a long time coming, obviously a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, and it just feels sweet to win the title, the first one of my career.
“I appreciate all the support, as always, it never goes unnoticed, and I can’t wait to enjoy these next couple of weeks. I can’t wait to be at the Allianz [Arena] on Saturday and celebrate in front of the fans.
“And then, as always, we look forward to the next one, and we go again and try and get number two.”
Kane moved to Bayern in the summer of 2023 but, despite a brilliant debut season in Germany on a personal level in which he scored 36 league goals, the club could not retain the domestic title.
His 24 goals this season have had a positive effect, though, with Bayern now eight points ahead of Leverkusen with just two games remaining.
