Another Simple Favor, the highly anticipated sequel to Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick’s 2018 film A Simple Favor, poses another murder mystery to be solved. This time, however, the twists and turns don’t take place in suburbia, but in the picturesque south of Italy.
Lively and Kendrick reprised their roles of Emily Nelson, a conniving fashion PR executive, and Stephanie Smothers, a single mother with a cooking and crafting vlog, respectively, in the follow-up to the box office hit that is now streaming on Prime Video.
The shocking conclusion of A Simple Favor, which takes place in the fictional suburban town of Warfield, Conn., ends with Emily being sentenced to 20 years in prison for two separate murders and Stephanie being the one to help send her there. But when Another Simple Favor picks up five years later, Emily has been let out of jail early — and she has one more favor to ask of her former best friend Stephanie, who now works as a private investigator: To be the maid of honor in her upcoming wedding in Capri. What follows, though, is anything but wedded bliss on the Italian coast.
While Feig primarily shot the first film in Toronto to bring the idyllic town of Warfield to life, the director knew that the sequel needed to be set — and filmed — on the actual island of Capri, Italy. The director and his wife have been making annual trips to the Italian island for decades.
“We’ve been going there so long, they all kind of know me,” he told PEOPLE, joking he “might’ve ruined my favorite vacation place” by inspiring droves of fans to visit.
“I always wanted to shoot something in Capri, so it was a dream come true to get to figure that one out,” he revealed to PEOPLE in March
Here is a look at all of the real-life locations where Another Simple Favor was filmed.

The bulk of Another Simple Favor was filmed in Capri, the glamorous island located in the crystal-clear waters of Italy’s Bay of Naples.
“It’s my favorite place on earth,” Fieg told PEOPLE. “Every time we’ve been there for all these decades, I’ve been going, ‘I want to set a movie here.’ ”
He also explained to Entertainment Weekly that the beauty of the Italian island served as an ironic juxtaposition to the murder and betrayal in the plot.
“[I loved] the idea of doing something that has a lot of twists and turns in the most beautiful setting where everything’s colorful and beautiful and bright and sunny,” Feig said. “It’s a place where you go, ‘Well, nothing bad could ever happen here’ — and lots of bad things happen.”
By the end of shooting Another Simple Favor, Feig wasn’t the only one who was obsessed with Capri: Lively, who was initially hesitant about filming in Italy, was won over by the beauty of the island, as well.
“Paul wanted to shoot in Capri and I was like, ‘That sounds amazing, but it’s very expensive and let’s just, you know, shoot in Connecticut. That’s where the first one took place,” Lively said at the world premiere of Another Simple Favor in March.
She continued, “I didn’t understand why it needed to be Capri, and now, I want to live there, I love it so much.”

The primary shooting location on the island was at the Grand Hotel Quisisana, a historical — and luxurious — hotel found in the center of Capri, just steps from the Piazzeta (the island’s famous square) and with sweeping views of the Faraglioni (the iconic rock formations in the Bay of Naples).
The five-star hotel has hosted royalty, politicians, celebrities and writers since its opening in 1845 — but in April 2024, it opened its doors exclusively for 12 days for the 80 cast and crew members of Another Simple Favor. Many of the film’s scenes, including the wedding ceremony, were shot on the Victorian-style grounds, which include a private pool overlooking the Bay of Naples, opulent terraces and luscious green gardens.

Other shooting locations in Capri included the island’s famous beach club Lido del Faro and the historical Roman palace Villa Jovis.
Lido del Faro is tucked into the cliffs of the island, accessible only by a hidden, winding footpath that runs along a set of historic defensive walls built by the English. Villa Jovis also has deep roots in history: Built in the first century B.C., it was the residence of the ancient Roman emperor Tiberius.

While the majority of the movie was shot in Capri, the stars did make their way to Rome to film a few scenes.
The final moments of Another Simple Favor begin with Lively’s character Emily sitting near the Trevi Fountain with a glass in hand before one final twist is revealed.
