Maya Hawke Sparks Engagement Rumors with Ring During N.Y.C. Walk

Maya Hawke may soon be getting married!

The Stranger Things star, 26, is sparking engagement rumors after she was photographed in Manhattan wearing a diamond on that finger. 

The buzzy images come roughly a week after she and her boyfriend Christian Lee Hutson made their red carpet debut for the opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain in support of her Stranger Things costar Sadie Sink at New York City’s Booth Theater.

Photos showed Hawke talking on a cell phone as she walked down the street in a striped shirt and denim jacket. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail.

The ring was the only piece of jewelry she wore. 

Reps for the actress did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. 

The Inside Out 2 star, who is the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, first met Hutson, 34, four years ago through their work in the music industry.

His credits include a collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers, whom he supported on her 2021 Reunion tour.

Speaking about his career in music with The Line of Best Fit in September 2024, the “State Bird” singer said, “I constantly feel like I exist between many different worlds and I’m somehow a part of many different worlds and so I’m also a part of none of them.”

The New York-based singer and songwriter was also featured on Hawke’s 2024 album, Chaos Angel, featuring the single “Missing Out.” In July 2024, she spoke openly about working with her boyfriend during an interview on the Zach Sang Show.

“It is awesome. I mean, I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people. They really know you as a person who has feelings … not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto,” she said of Hutson at the time.

And though the couple may have only recently made their red carpet debut, Maya is no stranger to Hutson’s social media profile.

On Valentine’s Day 2024, he shared an Instagram photo of them sitting on a sofa together as she smiled.

“The first song from maya’s new record, chaos angel, is out now. i love this song. i love this record. can’t wait to share the rest of it,” he captioned the post.

In May 2024, he continued to praise the project they worked on together, sharing behind-the-scenes content of what it took to make the album.

The first photo of his Instagram carousel saw the friends-turned-lovers was a shot of the pair both doing a silly pose with one leg lifted in the air as they sat. 

“Thank you to Maya, an unstoppable force and truly one of the only people I’ve ever met, with the courage to pull the deepest and darkest from within herself out into the light, to hold it there, really examine it, and choose to love it, chaos and all,” he wrote.
