Jennifer Gates is 29, and her parents could not be more proud!
As Melinda French Gates and Bill Gates’ eldest child turned 29 on Saturday, April 26, the former couple — who also share son Rory, 25, and daughter Phoebe, 22 — both marked the milestone with heartfelt tributes.
Melinda, 60, shared a smiley snap of the mother-daughter duo on Instagram, and accompanied it with a sweet birthday message for Jennifer, who graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai last May before starting her pediatric residency at Mt. Sinai in New York City.
“Happy birthday, @drjenngates!” The Next Day author wrote. “The way you show up for those around you — from your daughters to your patients and everyone in between — is a tribute to what an intelligent, compassionate and generous person you are.”
“I’m so proud of you,” Melinda continued, “and I hope this last year of your twenties is everything you want it to be 💖.”
Bill, 69, also marked Jennifer’s birthday on Instagram, sharing a father-daughter snap on Stories: a picture of the pair at what appeared to be a costume party. Like Melinda, he was also sure to express just how “proud” he is of his eldest child.
“Happy birthday to one of the most brilliant, kind and wonderful people I know,” the Microsoft co-founder wrote. “You make every challenge you take on look easy – and you make me so proud to be your dad.”

“Today and every day, I love you,” he concluded the post.
Outside of her job as a pediatric resident — which she has documented in part on her own Instagram account — Jennifer is also a professional show jumper and mom of two.
In early 20233, she and husband Nayel Nassar — whom she wed in October 2021 after five years of dating — welcomed their first child, a daughter named Leila, now 2. The little one was later “promoted to big sister” when Jennifer and Nassar welcomed their second daughter, Mia, in October 2024.

Jennifer shares small snippets of her life with her family of four on Instagram, with Bill and Melinda, as well as her siblings, also making occasional appearances.
In January, she documented her 2024 with a photo dump, including several family shots, some selfies she snapped while pregnant with Mia and a sweet summary of the busy year.
“2024 brought our second daughter, the adventure of two under two, a medical degree, and the start of pediatric residency,” she wrote in the caption. “Couldn’t do any of it without @nayelnassar and our village of caregivers, friends and family. ✨❤️.”
