Florida State University students and faculty are recovering following a scary incident on campus.

At least one person has died, six others have been hospitalized, and one person is in police custody, following a shooting on the campus in Tallahassee April 17, a senior law enforcement official briefed on the matter confirmed to NBC News

A spokesperson from Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare hospital told the outlet that victims were being treated at the medical center, though their conditions have not been disclosed.

Students, faculty and staff on the campus were alerted to an active shooter in the “area of the student union” around 12 p.m. local time via an alert sent wide, as local law enforcement and the FBI attended to the scene. In an alert sent by the FSU X account, people on the campus were told to, “Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures.”
