Mohamed Salah signs new Liverpool contract until 2027

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has officially extended his stay at Anfield, putting pen to paper on a new two-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The 32-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of the current season, and uncertainty had surrounded his future following his mid-season comments and ongoing speculation about a potential switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Despite the rumours, Salah has decided to remain with the Reds, where he has already built a legendary status and is on track to win the Premier League title this term.

Since arriving from AS Roma in 2017, the Egyptian international has made 393 appearances for Liverpool, racking up 243 goals and 109 assists.

“Of course I’m very excited – we have a great team now,” Salah said after the announcement.

“Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.

“I have played eight years here, hopefully it’s going to be 10. I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here.”

Salah’s form this season has been instrumental in Liverpool’s title challenge. He has found the back of the net 32 times in all competitions, including 27 goals in the Premier League, as the team pushes for their record 20th top-flight crown.

Liverpool currently hold an 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, with just seven matches left to play.

During his time with the Merseyside club, Salah has won nearly every major trophy available, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and the Club World Cup.

The Egyptian star is among a trio of high-profile players whose contracts were due to run out in the summer. The other two are Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk and England full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Van Dijk recently revealed that discussions over a renewal are moving in the right direction, while Alexander-Arnold continues to be the subject of interest from Real Madrid, with rumours about a possible summer move looking more and more likely by the day.
